This review is an extremely in-depth detailed review of the poker room, the promos, etc. The food is really good, as well. The place is kind of run down, but it has a warm feeling there, more than any casino I've been too. It's a poker room, with table games on the other side, and a 24/7 Filipino/American diner style restaurant, (the restaurant is filled with families often).
As for poker...1-1-2, and 3-5 no limit, and 3-6 limit are pretty much always running 24/7. The 1-1-2 is a unique structure, it's 40 min- 200 max. It's a 3 blind game, with a dollar on the button. It's 4 dollar to open. And it plays with a kill, which is straddle that can be from any position but the button, it's 4 dollars and make its 8 to open. This makes the game pretty much a 40-50bb game, it would be greatly improved by increasing the buy-in to 300 dollars. 3-5 is 300 min-1000 max. A straddle is allowed from UTG only. This makes it 3-5-10 game. 5-10 runs about 1-5 times a week and pops up sporadically.
Lately PLO has been playing, 2-3-5, and a very large HUGE 20-40 (more like 80-160) PLO game. They have 4-8 with 1/2 kill. Omaha, which has a bad beat jackpot, and is doubled 10am Tues- 10am Wednesday, this makes there be multiple tables. The jackpot is 5k to 20k, quad JJs or better beaten.
There is about 70% of the time a 4-8 stud game running. This also has a BBJ, it is doubled 10am Wed-10 am Thursday. The stud jackpot is anywhere from 5k to 40k, the qualifier is quad 2s or better.
No Limit has a 100k jackpot, it is quad 7s or better beat. (It started at 95k)
One of the best things about this room is the crazy generous promos for high hand, and splash pots. First let's talk about the High hand, it does not run 24-7, but runs about 70% of the day. It pays as follows, for all games minus the PLO.
Quads - $100
Straight Flush - $200
Aces Full of Kings - $300
Royal Flush - $500 (this pays 24/7)
Now here's the generous part. You only need one card to play for example. If the board is 3 queens, and you have one queen. They pay you! I've been in hands where there was quads on the board, and everyone who was in the hand, as long they could be beat the kicker. I've heard stories of the royal flush being on the board in Hold'em and everyone got it who had cards.
The high hand paying in O8 and Stuf are especially generous. They also do splash pots, where a random table is drawn and a rack is added to the next pot. There also Aces cracked in the hold em games in the morning 6am to 8am. It pays 100-300 dollars. Over all these promos somewhat make up for the typical California rake. It makes the game good, and most of all it MAKES THE GAME FUN. Lucky Chances is a great to place to play in the Bay Area. It's a quick ride from the city, it's in the middle of the cemetery, (Joe DiMaggios final resting place is 25 feet from there) it's kind of a community hub for the Filipino community. It's a place where you can sit a table with all different types of people, sit, have a drink, play some cards and have fun. In many ways, many new transplants to SF, don't know this place exists. It's a special one.
