I don't know a lot about the horse racing circuit, but I love horses. I decided to meet a friend there for lunch, and take it in. There was balcony seating at the restaurant, overlooking the track, the mountains, and the view. What a nice way to spend the afternoon. And the chicken piccata was great, if you're looking for a suggestion.

Truly enjoy the visiting the los Alamitos race course to watch the 1/4 mile horses race. Very exciting, organized, clean, safe and always entertaining! Eating at the vessel club is always a pleasure as well. Good service, tasty food and beautiful sunsets overlooking the well manicured race track.

You won't find high prices or pretentious people here, but you will surely have a great time. I usually don't have luck with any form of gambling, but the environment here makes you feel like a winner.
If available, I recommend reserving a place in Vessels. It's a swanky part of the track with some interesting pieces of history. The menu has something for everyone and the views are top-notch.
