This cruise line may is set apart from the ordinary in a very distinct manner. My experience with them dates back to having a "nightmare" of a Hong Kong / Vietnam / Bangkok itinerary on the Legend, A ship unworthy of carrying passengers ( in disrepair, old , dysfunctional ) , in their feckless manner of handling multiple complaints aboard, they gave guests a $500 credit ( simply known as a bounce back ) for a future cruise.... while attempting to use it , was told it is a $250 per passenger ( same passengers must go, it expires, and is not transferable ). The customer service from Seattle (corperate culture ) is such sham ,they don't care who they are speaking with, given I am retired, have cruised 50 plus times, and can soundly proclaim this is the worst cruise line on the water!

After more than 15 Windstar voyages all over the world, I'll never travel any other way! Superb. Small. Luxurious. Personal.

We sailed the Greek islands on Windstar from September 29 to October 7, 2018. It was fabulous and we also had a fabulous Capt. - Belinda. She had a great sense of humor and was obviously very experienced and gave us a wonderful cruise! We loved the size of the ship, 142 passengers and a crew of 99 --fun, gracious people who memorized our names quickly and were very attentive and kind.
Most of the passengers were older - probably an average age of 60 - and most were retired. We actually liked that since we are in our early 70s. It was easy to meet people and there were always opportunities to share a table at dinner which led to some wonderful conversations.
Our room was larger than we expected; it was compact with lots of storage space. The shower was a good size and even taking a shower during the storm that we encountered was fine.
We were completely pleased with the ship experience and rate it a 5, One of the peak experiences was watching the sails unfurled while playing the music from the movie "1492". The music was called "conquest of Paradise" and it definitely gave us all a rush!
We would probably rate the excursions overall a 4 for a few reasons.
I found the shore excursions quite strenuous. It was a great deal of walking always on uneven ground and sometimes included slippery marble slabs or stones where you could easily stumble. We were somewhat frustrated because the shore excursions began quite early - at about 8 AM - so the breakfast was not leisurely as we had hoped. We wished they could have started closer to 9 AM.
All in all we loved this experience and it is hard for us to think about ever going on a big cruise line after this wonderful experience.

We went on the Greek island cruise on the Wind Star in June 2017. It was an amazing experience. The food was wonderful as was the staff. They were all very friendly and took the time to get to know you. We loved the ship. Our cabin had plenty of storage room and was bigger than expected. The excursion selections were well thought out with an excellent variety. Being a smaller cruise ship, there were no assigned dining times and you could stay in the restaurant as long as you wanted. Swimming off the back of the ship was a nice, fun bonus. The absolute highlight of the trip was the dinner at Ephesus, Turkey. Windstar took all the guest to the ancient library there for 4-5 course amazing meal. It was an experience of a lifetime. I know we'll be taking many more Windstar cruises. I highly recommend them.
