Liberty State Park is a beautiful park, with a tall tree wooded picnic area providing plenty of shade next to the Hudson River. There are picnic tables that can be reserved in advance for special events. We had a birthday party near the Hudson River and under shady trees with a permanently installed center grill that was surrounded by eight tables. Great hot tasty food was prepared. Plenty of room for a food table, birthday present table, and seating for all. The temperature was in the 90s but with the breeze from the river and the shade from the tall trees, it felt like it was in the 70s tops. There is a playground, a pavilion with men's and women's bathrooms, large grassy area with volleyball nets, paved walkway around the exterior where you can enjoy magnificent views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Manhattan skyline. A perfect family get-together area where fantastic pictures can be taken to last a lifetime!

I am speechless! This was such an amazing experience for my family. I was a little disappointed that what you see is the BACK of Lady Liberty ??-? but you just CAN'T stay disappointed with all that this spot has to offer! It was so beautiful and a wonderful experience! There's a HUGE playground for the kids, places to walk the trail, beautiful sights of Manhattan, a great place for a picnic.... This spot has it all! It IS extremely cold because of the waterfront, even on hot days. The day that we went it was 80+ degrees out, and still once we arrived here the kids lips were blue after being outside for less than 5 minutes 😂 Even the chilly breeze is refreshing and magical. I want to go back and spend an entire day here exploring and have a picnic/bike ride. When we went, it was on our way out of town, we were heading to Newark airport which was a quick 10 minute drive from the park with no traffic at 730pm. I didn't expect it to have so much to offer. We just wanted to take our kids (mainly our 8 year old,our other two kids are 6 and 4) to see Lady Liberty before we left New Jersey and realized once we got there that this was a spot for a day trip. So definitely plan to spend a day here if you are in the area because it's too amazing not to! ♥

A favorite spot for my family and I and especially during the pandemic. It's a nice wide open space for kids to run around and play. The view is beautiful. And watching the sunset and all the lights of NYC turn on. It's a beautiful view. Great place to take a walk as well. You have a decent view of the Statue of Liberty. Definitely a great place for a day trip. We love to pack up some food and have a little picnic. So far we haven't had any issues with parking. But it probably varies from day to day. For us it's usually a "I'm bored. Let's go" kinda place.

Lived in NJ for 40+ years and have never been here until a few days ago!
What a beautiful serene park! Stunning views of Downtown NYC and the backside of Ms. Liberty (Statue of Liberty)! A nice picnic area and inside restrooms that were very clean! A beautiful walk to the 911 Memorial, Empty Sky! Plenty of places to throw a blanket down and just enjoy the view! I'm sure this park gets packed during the summer, but what a nice place to relax at!

One of the most beautiful parks. Lower Manhattan and statue of liberty facing you. You enjoy a serene walk beside the Hudson river. Beautiful green areas to sit on the grass. Abundant parking lots. Just a great place for all ages, individuals or families.
